Ushonaji wa Nguo Ihushi is a Community-Based Organization (CBO) located in Magu District,
Mwanza Region, Tanzania. The CBO was founded in 2015 by a group of dedicated local youth
and became officially registered in 2022.
In addition to the clothing production, The CBO provides vocational training programs to
teach valuable technical skills and help participants establish sustainable livelihoods in the textile and garment industry.
Through its holistic approach of skills training, entrepreneurship support, and product sales,
Ushonaji wa Nguo Ihushi aims to create economic opportunities, foster self-reliance, and improve
the livelihoods of underprivileged youth in Magu District. The CBO is committed to sustainable
development and building a more inclusive, prosperous local community.
Tailoring Training:
The CBO provides comprehensive training programs to teach participants professional sewing
and garment construction skills. Trainees learn pattern making, fabric cutting, machine operation, and finishing techniques.
Knitting Classes:
Ushonaji wa Nguo Ihushi also offers knitting instruction, enabling trainees to develop expertise
in hand-knitting and machine-knitting of sweaters, scarves, and other knitwear.
Product Development & Sales:
CBO members design and produce a range of clothing and textile products, including shirts,
dresses, skirts, suits and accessories. These are sold both locally and online social media.
Business Skills Development:
In addition to technical training, the CBO supports participants in building entrepreneurial
capabilities, such as costing, pricing, marketing, and financial management.
The mission of Ushonaji wa Nguo Ihushi is to equip marginalized and impoverished youth in Magu District with technical and entrepreneurial skills in clothing tailoring, knitting, and textile production. Through our training programs and business development support, we aim to create economic opportunities, foster self-reliance, and improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged young people in our community.
Provide high-quality vocational training in clothing tailoring, knitting, and textile production to 1000 marginalized youth annually by 2030. Achieve a trainee certification rate of at least 90% upon completion of the training programs.
Assist 50% of program graduates in establishing their own small-scale textile enterprises or securing employment in the garment industry by 2026. Offer business skills workshops covering topics such as financial management, marketing, and inventory control to empower trainees to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.
Expand the CBO's product line to include 20 new clothing and knitwear designs by 2030. Increase annual revenue from product sales by 30% by 2030 to reinvest in program sustainability and expansion.
Strengthen relationships with local government, community leaders, and industry partners to enhance the reach and impact of Ushonaji wa Nguo Ihushi's programs. Organize bi-annual stakeholder forums to gather feedback and collaboratively address the evolving needs of marginalized youth in Magu District.
Grow the CBO's staff team to include dedicated program coordinators, trainers, and administrative personnel by 2030. Secure diversified funding sources, including grants, individual donations, and corporate sponsorships, to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
